EXAM PREP - Computerized Tomography (CT)
Prep & Definition of Exam
Abdominal
CT: Images of the abdomen from the diaphragm to the top
of the hips. Most exams will require drinking oral contrast
as well as an intravenous contrast injection. Patients should
have nothing to eat or drink 4 hours before exam.
Pelvic CT:
Images of the pelvis from the top of the hips through the genitalia.
Most exams will require drinking oral contrast as well as an
intravenous contrast injection. Patients should have nothing
to eat or drink 4 hours before exam.
Chest CT:
Images of the chest. Most exams will require an intravenous
contrast injection. Patients should have nothing to eat or drink
2 hours before exam.
Head CT:
Images of the brain. Some exams will require an intravenous
contrast injection. Patients should have nothing to eat or drink
2 hours before exam.
Spine CT:
Images of a selected area of the spine. There is no prep for
this exam.
Extremity
CT: Images of a specific joint or limb. There is no prep
for this exam.
Sinus CT:
Images of the sinuses. There is no prep for this exam.
Cardiac Scoring:
Images of the coronary arteries. There is no prep for this exam.
CTA: Images
of the arteries in the body: Patients should have nothing to
eat or drink for 4 hours prior to exam.
